Why are there tornado sirens in Lawrence in nice weather or at noon?

That's a good question. It can be disconcerting when they go off! Sirens are tested at noon the first Monday of the month from Aug. to Feb. and the first and third Monday at noon from May-June.

I guess it’s still not too late to find this after graduating from KU for two years. Haha...
